Bottom line:

Maxi-Cosi have refined the Luna into two new Type G harnessed car seat models: the Luna Pro and the Luna Smart.

Both Luna models have harnessing from 6mo to approx 8 years and Air Protect side impact protection for safety. They also both have harness guides, an infant insert and fully adjustable headrest, harness and crotch buckles which should cater for all shapes and sizes.

The difference between the Maxi-Cosi Luna Pro and Luna Smart is the Pro includes the headrest with chin support which helps prevent your child’s head from flopping when they sleep, a feature which is common with the Vita Pro. The Luna Smart doesn’t. Another option if you want the chin support is get a travel pillow.

You save a bit of money with the Luna Smart, which is $499, but it is still quite expensive. But compared to convertible car seats it may represent good value, though many convertible car seats do feature a lot more safety features.

Who this is for:

Parents looking for a 6mo – 8 yr harnessed car seat filled with handy features (but don’t need the chin support)
