The Joie i-Gemm capsule is a premium 0-12 month ISOFIX enabled baby capsule that is focused on safety. Its standout features are ‘Intelli-foam’ side impact protection, ‘Tri-Protect’ 3-layer headrest protection, a no rethread harness adjustment and ISOFIX connectivity (the ‘i’ in ‘i-Gemm’ representing ISOFIX) – all features you would (and should) get in a premium baby capsule. It does score 3.7 on the CREP safety rating.
However, it is a deep capsule, which may impinge on the front passenger’s legroom in smaller cars.
Using Maxi-Cosi adapters it is compatible with most strollers to convert to a travel system. The wide sun canopy is also a helpful feature when out and about.
Take note that the i-Gemm was part of a safety recall in Nov 2019 where the top tether may release under excessive load: ensure that if you are looking at this one that the model number is not one of the ones affected.
