Pros and cons

Pros

+ Light weight
+ Narrow
+ Compatible with Phil&Teds strollers
+ Cheap for an ISOFIX baby capsule

Cons

– Very long, front passenger seat may need to be pushed well forward
– Only rated to 6 months
– Sun canopy not very large

Bottom line:

The Phil&Teds Alpha capsule is a midrange ISOFIX capsule that is functionally equivalent to the Mountain Buggy Protect – Mountain Buggy and Phil&Teds are from the same company. It is the lightest ISOFIX capsule out there at only 3.8kg – and light is always good when you are carrying your baby in the capsule around, particularly immediately postpartum. While it is narrow, it is also very long, making installation and front passenger comfort a mutually exclusive decision.

Unlike more modern seats on the market, it is only rated up to 6 months, which will necessitate an upgrade sooner, and while it is compatible with the Phil&Teds smart buggy to stroll around outside, the sun canopy is fairly small and doesn’t do a great job of shielding bub’s face from the hot Australian sun.
