Bottom line:

Maxi-Cosi have refined the Luna into two new Type G harnessed car seat models: the Luna Pro and the Luna Smart.

Both Luna models have harnessing from 6mo to approx 8 years and Air Protect side impact protection for safety. They also both have harness guides, an infant insert and fully adjustable headrest, harness and crotch buckles which should cater for all shapes and sizes.

The difference between the Maxi-Cosi Luna Pro and Luna Smart is the Pro includes the headrest with chin support which helps prevent your child’s head from flopping when they sleep, a feature which is common with the Vita Pro. The Luna Smart doesn’t. So if your kidlet often gets lulled to sleep by your driving, consider the Luna Pro.

The Luna Pro is $549, which is quite expensive compared to a booster. However, if you are upsizing from a capsule you may end up saving money by only needing one seat until your kid graduates to a regular car seat.

Who this is for:

Parents looking for a 6mo – 8 yr harnessed car seat for their car-sleeping kids.
