The Hipod Boston Pro Booster Seat is an affordable height-adjustable booster seat. On the safety front, it does have side wings for side impact protection and scored 4.6 stars on the CREP safety protection rating, one of the highest ratings. The additional money in the seat goes to a 5-position height adjustable headrest, arm rests and a bit more padding in the cushion to help with longer car rides.
The upper marker is very low at 48cm, so your child might outgrow the seat too early. Hipod even acknowledge this by staying that it is for ‘4 years – 6-8 years (approx.)’ If your child does outgrow the seat, you may need to progress to a second booster seat before they can fit a normal car seat, so make sure you take this into account.
Also, Hipod’s short warranty may be of concern as if you are intending to use this for the full 4 years, the warranty will run out after 2 years. Sign of Hipod’s expectation of useful life? Take note.
At $119 it is in the middle of the pack for booster seats, but might be a lot of money if this is just used as a second seat.
