The Hipod Rio Booster Seat is a bargain priced booster seat that is actually surprisingly practical. While it eschews more sophisticated safety features, it still scored 3.8 stars on the CREP safety protection rating. And even though it doesn’t have arm rests or cup holders like its more expensive cousins, it does have a useful lap guide (KeepSafe) and sash guide (Sash Guide) which helps maintain the correct placement of the seat belt over your child. Plus, it is foldable, and has a carry handle.
The downside is that the upper marker is quite low at 48.5cm, so your child might outgrow the seat too early. There is then a risk that they will still not be able to properly fit a normal car seat, which needs the child’s legs to hang over the end of the car seat cushion.
But for only $69, this is not a bad option, particularly if it’s only a ‘sometimes’ second seat or for the grandparents.
