Pros and cons

Pros

+ Very narrow seat, good for installing three in the rear
+ Secur-air head protection and Air Cocoon Technology side impact protection (Air Cocoon Technology only in Astra)
+ Can be found for a good price if discounted

Cons

– Fundamental design flaws (see below)
– It’s big and heavy

Bottom line:

The Infasecure Emerge was the first Type-G harnessed car seat in the Australian market and while it was innovative then unfortunately it has not evolved much since then. It does have Infasecure’s side protection (Air Cocoon Technology) and Secur-air in the Go and a wide range of colours and fabrics.

But there are still some fundamental flaws with the Emerge. Gradual ‘unlimited’ recline positioning belies the fact that it does not recline enough, potentially causing head flop in sleeping children. The harness adjusts in large increments, making it possibly either too high or too low at any given time. And finally, some people report that the harness is difficult to tighten.

While there are many different colours, depending on your taste there may not be one right for you, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. styling can be a bit hit and miss in our opinion. Unless you have a specific colour in mind, go for the ‘Go’ (pun intended) as it is the only model with Secur-Air protection, but do check out other Type G seats such as the Britax Maxi Guard as well.

Who this is for:

Parents looking for an 6mo-8yr harnessed car seat specifically from Infasecure.
